Fetch car sharing: A car in your pocket
Fetch car sharing is a new player in the field of car sharing in the Netherlands. Sharon Dijksma, councilor for Traffic and Transport, Water and Air Quality of the Municipality of Amsterdam, opened the new car sharing service of Fetch car sharing in Amsterdam on January 10. One hundred electric Renault ZOE shared cars are immediately available in the capital. Another hundred copies of the Renault ZOE will be delivered in March.
Our team has created a super simple service for the user, while the underlying IT and technology is quite complex. That is why we are very proud of the results we have achieved in a short time!
Fetch car sharing is all about ease of use
Fetch car sharing's services are based on three key points.
- Convenience: registration, ease of use, simple all-in rates that are the best in Amsterdam.
- Comfort: space and driving range.
- Freedom: to go out (together) and use it at any time.
The shared cars are 'free-floating' where the cars do not have a fixed parking space, but can be picked up and left anywhere within the parking zone in Amsterdam. Everything related to searching, booking, unlocking and starting the car, deregistering and paying is done via the Fetch app.
Proud of the result
Sping built the entire multi-sided platform with the native iOS and Android apps, the marketing website, and the back-end. The app shows a real-time overview of the available shared cars in Amsterdam. A user must first log in with their driver's license. Once this has been accomplished, the car can be rented and unlocked via the app. The car is then immediately ready to drive away.
The back-end is connected to various providers for identity verification, payment and digital contract signing and rolled out with our partner AWS. Users can download the app, register and start driving within 10 minutes. It's all arranged via the app.
Next steps
- The objective is to expand the car-sharing service to a second major city in the Netherlands in the course of 2019. At Sping we are busy preparing the platform to expand this service to the next big city.
- We are continuously improving the app to ensure we provide the best possible user experience.
